Abstract

Science fairs play a fundamental role in students' academic and socio-emotional development by promoting practical, investigative, and interdisciplinary learning experiences. This article analyzes the influence of these initiatives within the school context, emphasizing the development of cognitive competencies and the strengthening of interpersonal skills, such as resilience and self-management. The research is based on a comprehensive literature review covering the period from 2018 to 2024, allowing for an articulated analysis between theoretical assumptions and everyday educational practice. The results demonstrate that active participation in science fairs enhances school engagement and consolidates essential skills, such as scientific communication, complex problem-solving, and critical thinking. Additionally, the study identifies that the experimental environment acts as a decisive factor in students' professional choices by providing direct contact with scientific practice and awakening vocations in various fields of knowledge. Simultaneously, the analysis points to demands for greater material resources and the structuring of systematic institutional support for the full consolidation of these practices. In this sense, the study highlights the importance of continuous investment and specialized teacher training. Such actions aim to strengthen science fairs as permanent pedagogical strategies capable of transforming the school environment into a space for innovation, emotional growth, and youth leadership, preparing students for contemporary challenges and the definition of their career trajectories.
