Abstract

Objective: To analyze current scientific evidence on the efficacy and safety of photobiomodulation (PBMT) in the clinical management of rhinitis symptoms. Methods: This is an integrative literature review conducted in the PubMed, SciELO, and Google Scholar databases, covering the period from 2004 to 2025. The final sample consisted of 18 articles that met the inclusion criteria. Results and Discussion: The findings demonstrate a statistically significant reduction in the Total Nasal Symptom Score (TNSS) and improvement in quality of life indices (RQLQ). The integrative analysis reveals that PBMT promotes the down-regulation of Th2-profile cytokines and the reduction of eosinophilic infiltration, serving as an adjuvant strategy in compliance with the ARIA-EAACI 2024-2025 guidelines. All studies confirmed the high safety profile of the technique, although dosimetric heterogeneity remains the main challenge for clinical standardization. Conclusion: Photobiomodulation is an innovative and viable tool for contemporary otorhinolaryngology, offering an effective and safe non-pharmacological alternative for the control of nasal inflammation.
