The importance of disposing of movable public assets for resource optimization in the Federal Government

Abstract:
This article aims to address the disposal of permanent assets in the Federal Government, highlighting the administrative procedures required for its implementation, the main challenges faced by public agencies, and the good practices adopted for disposal as a tool for resource optimization. The research was developed through a literature review and analysis of data made available by federal agencies. It was found that the disposal of public assets is a complex process involving several stages, from the evaluation of the asset to its final destination. Among the main challenges faced by public agencies are the lack of training of the civil servants responsible for the process, the difficulty in assessing the value of the assets, and the lack of an integrated system for managing public assets. On the other hand, the adoption of good practices can bring significant benefits to the Federal Government’s asset management, such as the optimization of public resources, the reduction of storage costs, and the modernization of public administration.
