Abstract

Tooth loss constitutes a significant public health problem, with functional, aesthetic, and psychosocial repercussions. Dental implants represent an effective alternative for oral rehabilitation; however, their success is directly related to bone quality and the absence of peri-implant diseases, such as peri-implantitis. This study aims to report a clinical case of oral rehabilitation in a 50-year-old female patient with advanced peri-implantitis and bone loss in teeth 21 and 22. The treatment consisted of removing the compromised implants, followed by bone reconstruction with autogenous graft associated with xenogeneic biomaterial and guided bone regeneration technique with a barrier membrane. After six months, satisfactory bone neoformation was observed, allowing the placement of new implants with adequate stability. It is concluded that the management of peri-implantitis associated with the use of biomaterials and reconstructive techniques favors predictable results in oral rehabilitation.
