Abstract

This research addresses risk management in minimizing uncertainty during the COVID-19 period at BCI from 2019 to 2020. The study is based on the assumption that economic crisis environments amplify organizational vulnerabilities, requiring structured and integrated strategies for risk identification, monitoring, and mitigation. Thus, the main objective of the research was to understand how the risk management practices adopted by BCI contributed to financial stability, operational continuity, and the strengthening of stakeholders’ confidence during the pandemic. Methodologically, this is an applied research of a qualitative nature, based on semi-structured interviews with managers and documentary analysis of institutional reports. Data analysis was carried out through content analysis, triangulation, and comparison with scientific literature. The results indicate that the bank adopted an integrated risk management approach, involving the identification and classification of credit, liquidity, market, and operational risks, the implementation of mitigation policies, continuous monitoring, and the digital transformation of processes. Digitalization and predictive systems enabled faster decision-making, integration between departments, and early detection of problems, contributing to the reduction of default rates and the preservation of liquidity and institutional solvency. It is concluded that BCI’s risk management contributed decisively to minimizing uncertainty during the analyzed period, demonstrating that the integration between institutional policies, technology, and continuous monitoring constitutes a determining factor for financial stability in crisis contexts.
